CHRISTMAS
IN THE PARK 2 0 0 8
Light Display Open Friday, December 12 Through Thursday, December 25 - 5:00 p.m. to
10:00 p.m. Drive through 55 acres of beautiful Manner’s Park and view
over 85 illuminated displays! SCHEDULED EVENTS At the Park Dining Hall Friday, December 12 – Tuesday, December 23, 2008 Friday, December 12 Opening Night – There will be lots of
holiday cheer as the children have the opportunity to enjoy Supper with Santa
from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the event is sponsored by
McDonald’s. There will be plenty
of fun and magic with Richard Landry and his magic rabbit Snowball. Bring your camera and take pictures of the
magical and hilarious antics that you will witness during the program. Pre-registration is required and limited to
100 participants. Saturday, December 13 A night for royalty – Little Miss and Little
Mister Snowflake – 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Only 15 girls and 15 boy’s
applications will be accepted. Ages 5 –
7 years old. Registration due by
Tuesday, November 25. Dash through our winter wonderland with a free
sleigh ride. You will discover the
magic of Manner’s Park as your sleigh glides through the park with
incredible views outlined by the starlit sky from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Taylorville members of the
Morrisonville Masonic Lodge will be providing the sleigh rides. Sunday, December 14 Christmas Goodie Bake Off (nothing smells better
than something from the oven) baked goods/candies must be brought to the
dining hall from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon (cash prizes, ribbons, bragging
rights!!). Judging begins at 1:30
p.m. An evening to sit down, relax and enjoy Christmas
storytelling by Mrs. Snowflake (a.k.a. Ann Bandy). Close your eyes and take a deep breath as
you prepare to embark on a journey to another world where anything is
possible from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
One of Santa’s favorite events during the year is the
opportunity for boys and girls to visit with him at the Manner’s Park
dining hall from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Santa will be sharing thoughts with you and making his list of your
toy requests for his staff at the North Pole.
Monday, December 15 Christmas time and part of the package of old
Christmas traditions so the truth of it will ring clear and fresh in the
hearts of people all year long “The Live Nativity” by the Church
of the Nazarene from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Spend a special evening line dancing and having
fun that will make this a night to remember.
“Circle A” DJ Becky Ammons will
provide the music for a boot scooting good time from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
in the dining hall. Tuesday, December 16 Supper and Bingo with Sonny. Activities begin at 5:00 p.m. with bingo
after the meal. As in past years, a
ticket is required to participate in this program and can be purchased for $1
at the park office. Seating is limited
to 150 senior citizens. Wednesday, December 17 Santa is very eager to visit with the children
from our community before the big day.

If so, stop by the park dining hall to see him and give him your toy
request. Santa will be waiting for you
from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We will
put you in the mood for the Christmas season with the performance by the
Taylorville High School Concert Choir, an auditioned curricular choir and the
Taylorville High School Madrigal Singers with Mr. Keith Chase as conductor,
from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We invite
you to join us for an evening of entertainment with family and friends and
Santa Claus. Thursday, December 18 There is no better way to get into the Christmas
spirit than having pictures taken during Kids-N-Kritters
pictures with Santa from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is your chance to capture a special
moment in your pets and/or child’s life. Witter Photography will be the photographer
and has requested a donation of $6 or to bring an item (food, blankets, toys
and more) for the local animal shelter to help with their Christmas party for
the animals. Get all your holiday
shopping for your pets done in one stop this year. Dogwood will have an array of gifts for
cats and dogs just waiting for you from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Come on a journey to the world of make-believe
with Mrs. Snowflake (a.k.a. Ann Bandy) as our resident Christmas storyteller
from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 19 Come view the “Live Nativity” provided
by the An unforgettable evening celebration for
Kids-R-Kids (physically challenged) with a Christmas dance providing the
magic time of the year where dreams come true from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20 We would like to wish all of you a very happy
Christmas from all of us at the Taylorville Park District. The TPD Ballroom is back and presents
“Swinging Into Christmas” for your dancing and listening
pleasures from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with the Mike Withrow band. Sunday, December 21 Welcome to the park dining hall and Santa’s
second home. Visits with Santa will
begin at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Bring
your thoughts of what you want for Christmas and Santa will send them
straight to his workshop at the North Pole by his special website. Mrs. Snowflake, our resident Christmas
storyteller, will be in the park dining hall from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The true “Reason for the Season”. The live nativity by the Church of the
Nazarene from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Christmas sleigh ride is great fun for any age
during the Christmas season and it turns our thinking to Santa in his sleigh,
filled with toys and gifts and the eight reindeers on a chilly night looking
down at all the brilliant lights. The
Taylorville members of the Morrisonville Masonic Lodge will be providing free
sleigh rides along with hot chocolate and cookies in the park dining hall
from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 22 Even Santa
needs a long supper break during his busiest time of the year. Enjoy homemade soup with Santa, featuring
storytelling, face painting, Ansar Shrine Clowns with their balloons and more
from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. FOR ALL
AGES!!! Come join the fun and a hot
cup of soup too. Tuesday, December 23 Very few people have been fortunate enough to be
able to visit Santa one last time before his big trip, but he will be at our
park dining hall from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for your special requests. Mrs. Snowflake, our resident Christmas storyteller
will be delivering a special Christmas story to the children of our community
